Frequently Asked Questions

Preventive cardiology is a specialized approach that focuses on reducing the risk of heart disease through early detection, lifestyle changes, regular health screenings, and medical management of risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol.
Anyone with risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol, smoking habits, a family history of heart disease, or an unhealthy lifestyle should consider consulting a preventive cardiologist to reduce their risk of future heart problems.
Heart-healthy lifestyle changes include eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding tobacco, limiting alcohol consumption, managing stress, and getting adequate sleep.
Adults with risk factors should undergo regular heart health evaluations as recommended by their cardiologist. Even healthy individuals should have periodic blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar screenings to detect problems early.
Many types of heart disease can be prevented or delayed by controlling risk factors, following a healthy lifestyle, taking prescribed medications when needed, and attending regular medical check-ups.
Depending on your health condition, your cardiologist may recommend blood pressure measurement, ECG, echocardiogram, lipid profile, blood sugar tests, stress testing, or other diagnostic investigations to assess your heart health.
Lifestyle management helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, hypertension, and other cardiovascular diseases by improving overall heart function and controlling major risk factors.
You should seek preventive cardiology consultation if you have chest discomfort, high blood pressure, diabetes, elevated cholesterol, obesity, a family history of heart disease, or simply want to maintain long-term heart health through preventive care.
